The ‘Glamping’ was introduced over two decades in Korea but its meaning was misappropriated in terms of its quality. We expected visitors to have a journey of experiencing staying in the forest and returning back to their daily lives with relaxing and healing experiences. 'GLAMTREE' has the meanings of Glamping Pavilion and Trees. It also has a comprehensive meaning of rich nature. The construction, the trees on site were well preserved and completed as the original idea.

 

The shape of the Landscape/nature has highest design character and we reflected this while planning the master plan. The master plan and glamping design is inspired from the leaves and pebbles in the forest.

The position of the structures were carefully considered to give aesthetic emergence both during the day and the night time. We pursued to create dynamic shape with minimalist and simplistic structural system.

The glamping naturally settle like leaf veins on forest paths along the gentle slope. They are designed, which was inspired from leaves and pebbles. From the outer terrace of the glamping, the scenery of the nature is experienced.

 

The roof canopy of Welcome Center floats from the ground, so the transparent facade allows to embrace the nature behind. We designed floating like roof, in order to be experience as a part of nature as if they are still in the forest even though entering into the building.

The Glamping units are uplifted and supported on light steel footings. By keeping certain distanced from the ground, the condensation could be largely reduced. Also the ventilation fans were installed between outer and inner layer for active air flow, which also helps to reduce the moisture build-up on inner surface, especially, in cold winter. The warm air was recycled.

 

The glamtree resort broke the stereotypes of hotel layout into super nature friendly eco resort. Glamping, which creates a comfortable environment while being adjacent to the nature, brings out a new atmosphere of experience. It has an optimal resort type that can practice social distancing even in the crisis of Covid-19. Glamtree provides people with a new type of space that they have never experienced. Respecting the natural terrain and forests, and the experience of being a part of it, becomes an important value of the brand.

 

The 'Glamtree' project was completed at the time, when Covid-19 strike the world. People had great will to go vacation to a resort but didn't want to be trapped in the closed space like ordinary hotel. The Glamtree resort was the perfect solution. The Glamtree resort  is currently recognized as one of the most clean area resort to visit in Korea. All the material, which was used for glamping is recyclable. The membrane is  transformed into Eco-bag and provided to the people, who visit.

밤나무숲으로 우거진 대지는 자연스러운 등고로 이루어져 있다. 대지에 들어서면, 깊은 숲속으로 산책을 나온 듯한 느낌이 들다가, 계곡과 함께 아름다운 서리산의 풍광이 눈에 들어온다. 서리산은 하루의 시간에 따라 그리고 계절의 변화에 따라 시시각각으로 다른 모습을 보여준다.

우리는 사람들이 숲을 체험하며, 이곳에 머무르고, 그 경험을 다시 가지고 가는 여정을 기대했다. 또한 한국의 자연과 문화를 모던하게 담는 작업을 고민하였다. ‘글램트리’는 글램핑 파빌리온과 트리의 의미를 지니고 있다. 풍성한 자연이라는 포괄적인 뜻도 가진다. 대지가 가지는 자연의 특성과 건축가가 숲 속의 나뭇잎과 조약돌에서 영감을 받아 설계한 독특하고, 조형적인 글램핑 파빌리온이 함께 어우러져, 연합된 글램트리가 만들어진다.

글램트리에 도착하면, 숲 속 길을 따라 쌓여진 돌담이 있는 주차장과 가장 처음 만나게 된다. 대지에서 나온 돌을 가지고 만들어진 돌담은 그곳에 있었던 자연 요소를 소중히 하고, 아끼는 마음에서 시작되었다. 돌담을 따라 들풀과 들꽃이 있는 숲길을 걸어 들어오면, 방문객을 맞이하는 웰컴센터를 만나게 된다.

 

웰컴센터는 대지의 끝부분의 형태를 존중하며, 큰 삼각형의 볼륨을 가진다. 건축물은 마치 지붕이 떠 있는 구조로 되어있는데, 공간에 들어서면 여전히 숲 속에 있는 것과 같이 자연의 일부로 경험되도록 설계되었다. 웰컴센터는 리셉션 데스크, 레스토랑과 카페의 기능을 동시에 가진다. 또한 계곡과 맞닿은 웰컴센터는 실내 스파, 실외 인피니티 온수풀로 설계되었다. 웰컴센터의 중간 부분은 숲 속 마당인데, 계곡으로 내려가는 자연 속 계단 테라스로 구성된다. 계단 테라스의 중간층에서 세미나실 겸 영화관으로 이어지며, 더 아래로 내려가면, 계곡과 맞닿은 컨퍼런스 공간이 펼쳐진다. 이처럼 웰컴센터는 대지의 지형을 적극적으로 받아들여, 다양한 경험을 만들어낸다. 건축을 통해 자연과 하나되는 경험이다.

 

글램트리의 숲은 다양한 프로그램으로 채워져 있다. 숙박이 가능한 글램핑 파빌리온들과 숲 체험을 도와주는 네이처 스튜디오 그리고 2개의 트리하우스가 있다.

글램핑 파빌리온들은 완만한 숲의 경사에 따라, 작은 숲길 곳곳에 나뭇잎의 잎맥처럼 자연스럽게 자리잡는다. 2개의 다른 형태로 디자인 되었는데, 다양한 나뭇잎의 형태와 조약돌에서 영감을 받았다. LEAF GLAMPING PAVILION은 다이나믹한 선형의 원형 형태와 날렵한 선형의 부메랑 형태로 구분된다. 각각의 글램핑들은 숲 속의 시간을 체험하기 위해, 개별적인 외부 공간과 뷰를 가진다.

우리는 ‘글램트리’가 이곳의 자연을 존중하며 땅에 안긴 건축으로 만들어진 노력과 시간을 기억하고, 감사한다. 이곳에서 사람들의 다양한 경험들이 쌓이며 더 아름다운 공간으로 남게 될 것을 기대한다.
