수백 년 동안 축적된 역사의 흔적이 가득한 도심의 유적지 한가운데에서, 우리의 의료미래에 도전하는 병원을 만드려면 어떻게 해야 해야하는 가라는 질문으로 시작하였습니다. 효율성, 유연성 및 스마트 기술, 팬데믹 대응 최적화, 치유 환경, 조화로운 도시 통합. 새로운 국립의료원은 이와 같은 최첨단 시설을 갖춘 최고의 건축이 될 것입니다. 환자, 의료진 및 물류 흐름에 최적화된 모듈형 시스템을 주축합니다.
국립의료원은 복합적이고 역사적인 도시 구조를 존중하며 설계되었습니다. 번화한 동대문 도심의 중심에 치유의 공간이 조성됩니다. 새로운 국립의료원은 서울의 역사적인 스카이라인에 중요한 의미를 더하는 동시에 국내는 물론 전 세계 의료시설이 바라는 미래의 기준을 제시할 것입니다. 여기 한국에서 새로운 공공의료의 주춧돌이 놓여집니다.

In the midst of urban ruins steeped in centuries of history, we began with the question: How do we create a hospital that challenges the future of healthcare? Efficiency, flexibility and smart technology; optimized pandemic response; healing environments; harmonious urban integration. The new National Medical Center will be the ultimate in state-of-the-art architecture, anchored by a modular system optimized for patient, medical staff, and logistics flow.
The hospital is designed to respect the complex and historic urban fabric. A healing space will be created in the heart of the bustling Dongdaemun city center. The new National Medical Center will be an important addition to Seoul's historic skyline, while setting the standard for the future of healthcare facilities in Korea and around the world. Here, the cornerstone of a new era of public healthcare in Korea is laid.​
